Marcus has a deep passion for developing leaders and accelerating new ideas. His unique gifts and abilities have helped organizations around the world develop resources, infrastructure and strategy for the future.
As a third generation American of Jewish and Irish descent he spent his childhood in South Florida. The grandson of an Everlast Hall of Fame prizefighter (1920’s) and son of entrepreneurial parents Marcus recognized his calling as a leader at a young age.
He excelled in sports as an athlete growing up in his home state of Florida. His family values of relentless determination, faith, generosity and creativity have made a distinguishing mark on his life and leadership to this day.
In 1996 Marcus moved to Lakeland, Florida, to attend Southeastern University where he managed 25 different community programs serving both physical and spiritual needs of individuals throughout Central Florida. During his time he served in the AmeriCorps program and launched leadership/mentoring initiatives targeting at-risk youth, food distribution programs, collegiate volunteer programs and served in several leadership capacities. During this time he launched various nonprofits and social ventures throughout Central Florida and many are still in operation today.
After completing his undergraduate degree at Southeastern he was hired as the Director of Student Life where he served five years. Marcus helped lead the University Transition Taskforce during a time when Southeastern was one of the nation's fastest growing private universities. While working at Southeastern he completed an M.A. in Organizational Leadership from Regent University and began working directly with both for-profit and nonprofit organizations providing organizational development consulting.
In 2007 Marcus launched MH Stern Consulting to help nonprofits develop organizational infrastructure and strategy. This gave him the opportunity to serve under some of the nation’s top major gift fundraisers and he began aggressively learning and implementing various strategies for nonprofits to create unique funding models to generate new sources of revenue.
In 2009 he served as the Regional Director of North America for the Jerusalem Institute of Justice helping secure major gifts. He also served as a faculty member with the National Development Institute, Senior Counselor with Development Systems International, and President of PAXGlobal, implementing major gifts campaigns across the nation. In 2013 Marcus relocated to North Dallas where he served as the Senior Development Director with Global Media Outreach, one the world’s largest technology platforms for digital evangelism.
Marcus is the current president of the TOPUCU Foundation; an initiative that facilitates transformation in the lives of at-risk youth, offenders and their families across the nation.
He is also a founding team member of Millennial Village, a cross-generational initiative focused on training up the next generation of social entrepreneurs and nonprofit leaders. Marcus and his wife Vanessa have two daughters and have made their home in Frisco, Texas.
